As a wife of a police officer and a previous employee of law enforcement, I understand the unique concerns and circumstances surrounding law enforcement families in today's society. The stress and of the job and ever-changing schedule effects not only the police officer, but the entire family. It can be very easy to get wrapped up in the job, sometimes leaving little room for your partner and family. For the police officer, the stress from the job can make family life and marriage seem like hard work. And, the transition from work life to home life can be one of the more challenging issues for law enforcement personnel. In addition, when there is an "in the line of duty" tragedy, such as we have seen in the last year, all law enforcement families feel it and can be effected in many ways.
If you or your law enforcement loved ones are experiencing difficulties in your relationships, counseling can help. Remember, it takes strength and courage to deal with life's relational difficulties, rather than avoid them. You can learn to balance your life and experience connection in your relationships once again.
